British Crepe Factory
The British Crepe Factory was situated adjacent to the canal, and the ground under the slab in the area of the historic boiler, houses had become heavily contaminated in pockets with heavy fuel oil. The site extended to approximately 9 acres, and involved the removal of asbestos and demolition of the former crepe paper factory.
GMD excavated a series of sump traps along the canal boundary lined with impermeable membranes, and sump pumps to allow the continuation of the ground works and the excavation to remove the contaminated ground.
